Limelight productions

Limelight Productions are an amateur musical theatre company located in Dunfermline, Fife on the east coast of Scotland. The company continually strives to produce shows to the highest possible standards.

In order to achieve this, we recruit some of the best creative talent around and continually push the cast to perform at an even higher level than they thought possible.

Our shows are normally performed in the beautifully restored, 1175 seat Alhambra Theatre in Dunfermline which boasts having one of the largest stages in Scotland, though on occasion, we may use other venues such as Carnegie Hall, also located within the city of Dunfermline.

Ronan Corkey - Musical Director

Ronan is from Kirkcaldy, Fife and it was there that he first developed his deep love of music. With both of his parents being musicians, Ronan grew up surrounded by Scottish and Irish music which is why he subsequently went on to develop a love for all aspects of traditional Celtic music. He really found his musical passion however when he became a member of Youth Music Theatre Scotland and he went on to perform in several shows not only with this company, but also with many adult theatre companies, all over the country (including at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival).

Ronan has been the Musical Director for many productions with a variety of theatre companies including Youth Music Theatre Scotland, Kirkcaldy Amateur Operatic Society, Leven Amateur Musical Association and Cumbernauld Musical Theatre Society.

Life could have been very different for Ronan had he pursued his initial academic choice of an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Physics, however after completing his first full summer as a Musical Director for Youth Music Theatre Scotland in 2016, the last thing Ronan then wanted to do was to begin down this career path, which would have taken him away from the love he had developed of working with young people in a musical setting. And so, It was at this point Ronan secured an audition at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and was accepted onto their highly-acclaimed BEd programme only a week before the course started! After a whirlwind four years, Ronan went on to graduate from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with an Honours Degree and an endorsement prize for teaching. Ronan now works full time as a Music Teacher at Hutchesons’ Grammar, Private School in Glasgow and is loving every second working at this extraordinary school.

Outside of the classroom and the theatre, Ronan loves football and you’ll regularly find him at Starks Park cheering on his beloved Raith Rovers. You may also catch Ronan on a Friday or Saturday night through in the capital, as he regularly performs as a pianist and vocalist at Brewhemia in Edinburgh.

Having been Musical Director for Limelight's recent production of School of Rock, Ronan is delighted to be remaining with the Limelight team to work on Ghost the Musical, and can't wait to get started.
