Who can’t instantly recognise that opening line? Or find themselves humming a few bars of “Any Dream Will Do”? Some seasoned alumni may even confidently declare they can name all the colours!
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat has become more than just a musical — it has become a rite of passage. What began as a short song cycle for a local primary school, written long before Cats stalked Broadway or a Phantom haunted the West End, has grown into one of the most beloved and enduring family musicals of all time.
Generations have discovered Joseph in different ways — through school productions, treasured cast recordings (many of us wore out the famous Palladium recording starring Jason Donovan!), spectacular revivals, filmed adaptations, or television talent competitions. However it first found you, its irresistible score and joyful storytelling continue to captivate audiences of all ages.
And that timeless appeal is exactly where Limelight 2026 begins…
Our Vision
We are planning THE most colourful, high-energy, joy-filled retelling of this extraordinary show. Our production will burst off the stage with vibrant design, bold choreography, dynamic storytelling, and an infectious sense of fun.
Joseph is uniquely theatrical, it invites reinterpretation. Its playful shifts in musical style, its narrator-driven storytelling, and its larger-than-life characters allow each production to create something fresh and exciting.
For Limelight 2026, audiences won’t just watch the story, they’ll feel part of it. We aim to create an engaging, interactive experience that draws everyone into the world of dreams, jealousy, resilience and celebration.
Casting
Because Joseph itself spans generations both in its audience and within its story we are looking to assemble an enthusiastic, multi-generational cast.
We are seeking:
– Strong character actors
– Confident and committed singers
– Energetic dancers
– Excellent ensemble performers
– Performers with additional skills (whether that’s gymnastics, circus techniques, or other unique talents)
This production will thrive on ensemble spirit. We want a company that radiates warmth, energy and creativity with performers ready to collaborate, take risks and bring bold ideas into the room.
Our intention is to create an accessible production made by all ages, for all ages. It will be a show that celebrates community, inclusivity and shared storytelling.
Audition Process
Our “Welcome Night” will introduce prospective cast members to Limelight Production 2026, provide an opportunity to meet the creative team, understand the vision and learn more about the exciting journey ahead.
The movement and ensemble auditions will give you the chance to:
– Sing for us in a supportive environment
– Work creatively within a group setting
– Learn and perform ensemble movement from the show
– Explore more advanced choreography if you’re interested in featured dance roles

We are not just casting roles — we are building a new company of performers for this show.

Our “Welcome Night” will introduce prospective cast members to Limelight Production 2026, provide an opportunity to meet the creative team, understand the vision and learn more about the exciting journey ahead.
Please wear clothing suitable for movement.
– Saturday, 28th March 2026 – Limelight Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Auditions – Day 1
– Venue: TBC
– Time: 10am – 5pm
– Movement and Ensemble Auditions (10am – 12 noon)
– Audition Slots from 1pm – 5pm (10 Minute Audition Slots).
– Sunday, 29th March 2026 – Limelight Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Auditions – Day 2
– Venue: TBC
– Time – 10am – 5pm
– Movement and Ensemble Auditions (10am – 12:30pm)
– Audition Slots from 1pm – 5pm (10 Minute Audition Slots).
Anyone wishing to participate requires to attend the movement audition whether auditioning for ensemble or principal parts.
Participation in the audition day costs £5, payable to Limelight Productions – bank account number 00242684, sort code 83-33-00 (Royal Bank of Scotland). Please use your name as the payment reference. The audition fee pays for the venue hire, and any resources required
for the audition process.
In addition to the production team, Fiona Mitchell (Production Manager) will also be part of the selection panel. There may also be a member of the Limelight Productions Committee in attendance reading in for other parts.
Please note that this audition process is to cast the ADULT company. A separate audition process for the CHILDREN’S ENSEMBLE will commence after the adult company rehearsals have commenced.
Rehearsal Information
Rehearsals for the show will take place as follows:
– Company Rehearsals – Wednesday evenings from 7:30pm until 10pm.
– Principal Rehearsals – Monday evenings from 7:30pm until 10pm.
Additional company rehearsals on Sunday afternoons will be scheduled closer to the show. Rehearsals will take place at Limelight Studio, Dunfermline and Crossgate British Legion.
