LIMELIGHT PRODUCTIONS PRESENTS “GHOST THE MUSICAL”

In 1990 a Hollywood film, created by a writer named Bruce Joel Rubin was released – Ghost.

The film was to become a classic and is one of the highest grossing films ever in the UK.  It was nominated for 5 Oscars and awarded 2 in 1991.

Ghost is a tragic story of two lovers Sam and Molly who, having just become engaged are torn apart after Sam is murdered in a mugging which goes wrong.  Sam becomes trapped as a Ghost between this world and the next and continues to protect Molly as he did in life, but now more so as he discovers the truth behind his death and the fact Molly is now in grave danger.

Sam convinces a phonystore front psychic to help him communicate with Molly and bring his killer to justice but everything does not go to plan as Sam realises just who his friends really are.

Now this classic film has come of age it has been adapted for the stage.

Music and lyrics are provided by Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard and direction by Matthew Warchus. Bruce Joel Rubin has wrote the stage play, he knows the characters better than anyone!

Receiving universal acclaim from critics and the public alike Ghost the Musical is continuing the runaway success of the movie.

DIRECTOR’S NOTE

With iconic moments and memorable characters, “Ghost” has established itself as a classic of our time.

The musical is faithful to the best of the film but also manages to take the heights and depths of emotion even further through its musical narrative and on stage magic. With a contemporary score and staging this theatre show connects with us bringing a new energy to a familiar friend.

This show is a fantastic challenge for the talented Limelight Productions with the opportunity to present a fresh and exciting new premiere production – placing story at its heart supported by innovative performer and technical staging. With great characters, a brilliant story and lots for a company of hard working performers to do, Ghost, The Musical” is a poignant romance that builds comedy, suspense, and deeply felt emotion to an ethereal climax that audiences will never forget.

WELCOME NIGHT

The initial welcome workshop will provide an overview of GHOST THE MUSICAL where the director and choreographer along with other members of the creative team will outline the production style, vision, company involvement and rehearsal process through a brief presentation, practical exercise and Q&A.

GHOST WORKSHOP

This is the beginning of the audition process. Here the director and choreographer and production musical director will put people through their paces using material from the show. Participants will take part in acting, movement and singing activities designed to give them a flavour

of the show and prepare them for company and principal auditions.

N.B. Participants should attend prepared to sing, dance and take part in physical drama based activities during this workshop.

DANCE AUDITION

There is a lot of dance and movement in the show.  Some of it has a strong physical theatre and stylised presentation which helps to drive the plot, environments and staging of the show.  Movement styles range from commercial and contemporary to musical theatre jazz and even tap! This afternoon workshop will focus on more medium to advanced movement which will be assessed at the end of the session to inform further company auditions
